Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) | Harvey, Louisiana

Make a positive impact by supporting students with diverse physical needs as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher. This contract role is based onsite, working with school-aged children at multiple campuses near Harvey, LA. The position is itinerant, traveling between 2-3 schools to deliver adaptive PE instruction and ensure an inclusive environment for all learners.

Your adaptability and strong organizational skills will be key, as you oversee services at different sites, plan tailored PE activities, and work with students whose needs may evolve throughout the school year. The assignment runs from ASAP to May 22, 2026, with full-time hours (35 per week) and consideration for a part-time schedule—3 days weekly, maintaining 7-hour days with a lunch break and appropriate planning periods.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

• Valid PE teaching certification required; APE certification strongly preferred.
• Experience teaching or supporting students with adaptive needs in physical education settings.
• Skilled at creating individualized PE programs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Able to travel between campuses; reliable transportation required.
• Ability to adapt quickly, manage schedules, and juggle caseloads as needed.
• Must pass drug screening and fingerprinting for credentialing per district policy.
