Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) in Harvey, LA

Make a real difference in the lives of students by providing adaptive physical education services within a supportive educational community. This full-time, onsite role requires traveling between 2-3 schools in the area. You'll be instrumental in making physical activity accessible and enjoyable for students of varying abilities, helping them grow physically, emotionally, and socially.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid PE teaching license required; adaptive physical education (APE) certification preferred
• Experience working with students who have diverse physical and developmental needs
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between school sites
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage schedules across multiple campuses
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varied needs of students and schools
• Ability to pass a district-required drug screen and fingerprinting process

Responsibilities:

• Deliver adaptive physical education lessons tailored to IEPs, fostering engagement and inclusion
• Schedule and provide services across 2-3 schools, serving either the East or West Bank as needed
• Assess students’ individual abilities and develop appropriate activities to support growth
• Regularly collaborate with school staff, therapists, and families to ensure student progress
• Document services provided and maintain up-to-date records, following all district guidelines
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to IEP planning as required

This contract opportunity offers both full-time (35 hours/week) and part-time options (at least three 7-hour days/week) with built-in planning time. You'll be joining a collaborative environment that values your expertise and dedication.
