Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Valid and current Developmental/Adaptive Physical Education teaching license
  • Experience working with students who have diverse physical and developmental abilities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with colleagues, students, and families
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for physical education
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver customized adaptive PE lessons tailored to the needs of each student
  • Assess students’ physical strengths and challenges, adapting curriculum as needed
  • Collaborate with special education staff, therapists, and classroom teachers to create cohesive plans
  • Maintain accurate progress documentation and submit required reports
  • Facilitate a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages confidence, skill development, and participation for all students
  • Foster functional motor skills, coordination, and overall wellness in a safe, encouraging environment
