Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) - Huntersville, North Carolina

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program (required)
• Valid NCDPI Physical Education Certification (please submit proof of licensure/certification)
• Prior experience in adaptive physical education or with students with disabilities is preferred
• Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction strategies and classroom management
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with staff, families, and related service providers

Responsibilities:

• Design and adapt physical education lessons for students with varying abilities
• Modify activities and implement accommodations according to IEPs and individual student needs
• Foster a supportive, structured, and safe learning environment
• Monitor, assess, and document student progress
• Collaborate closely with special education teachers, families, and other professionals
• Participate in professional development and contribute to a positive school culture
• Supervise students and uphold all district policies and safety protocols
• Complete relevant documentation and perform additional assigned duties

This full-time contract position runs from now through May 28, 2028, offering the opportunity to make a lasting difference in students’ lives. Compensation is $66 per hour, reflecting your expertise and commitment.
