Grades 6 - 8 Grades 9 - 12 Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) | Irving, Texas

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students of all ages as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher. In this contract position, you’ll collaborate with a dedicated educational team to foster an inclusive environment where each learner, from kindergarteners through high school seniors, can thrive physically and socially. Through adaptive activities and personalized instruction, your work will help students discover their full capabilities and build self-confidence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Special Education, or related field
• Teaching certification with Adaptive Physical Education endorsement
• Previous experience with K-12 students, particularly those with diverse needs
• Strong knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting curricula
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to motivate, encourage, and creatively engage students of varying abilities

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement adaptive PE programs tailored to each student’s abilities
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to integrate physical education goals with IEPs
• Assess student needs and track progress, making adjustments as necessary
• Foster a safe, supportive atmosphere in gym and classroom environments
• Communicate regularly with families on student achievements and areas of growth
• Model inclusive practices and advocate for physical activity for all students
