Make an immediate impact supporting students with disabilities as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher! This contract role offers a unique opportunity to work full-time, providing vital adaptive PE instruction across multiple school sites in the Concord, NC area.

In this position, you’ll design and deliver physical education lessons aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, tailoring each activity to meet a wide spectrum of abilities. You’ll foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students’ individual goals and needs remain at the forefront. Collaboration with special education staff, families, and related service professionals is key to student success.

Qualifications & Experience Sought:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program (required)
  • Current and valid NCDPI PE certification (please provide a screenshot with application)
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in adaptive physical education or a similar special education setting
  • Strong skills in lesson adaptation, classroom management, and differentiated instruction
  • Proven ability to assess student progress and document outcomes for IEPs
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality adaptive PE instruction for students with varying needs and IEPs
  • Modify lesson plans based on individual student abilities and goals
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that supports physical, cognitive, and behavioral development
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Ensure safety and uphold district policies at all times
  • Participate actively in professional development and school collaboration

This is a full-time, itinerant position scheduled through May 2028, with an hourly rate of $66. Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.
