Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) | Kenner, Louisiana

Step into a highly rewarding role supporting students’ physical growth and well-being as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher. This contract position starts as soon as possible and runs through May 22, 2026. Based in the vibrant New Orleans, LA area, you will split your time itinerantly across two to three schools, delivering innovative and adaptive physical education programs to diverse student groups.

Key Qualifications:

• Current APE certification preferred; at minimum, applicants must hold valid Physical Education teacher credentials
• Experience or strong interest working with students who have diverse or adaptive physical education needs
• Flexibility to serve schools on either the East or West Bank in response to district needs
• Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage a multi-site caseload
• Proven ability to adapt and collaborate with various school teams
• Reliable transportation with willingness to travel regularly between assigned schools
• Ability to clear district-required drug screening and fingerprinting

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide adaptive physical education services as outlined in students’ IEPs
• Facilitate engaging lessons designed for a range of physical, intellectual, and emotional abilities, spanning multiple age groups
• Collaborate with school staff, therapists, and families to promote students’ inclusion and progress
• Maintain accurate records, document student progress, and report outcomes as needed
• Actively participate in meetings, planning sessions, and ongoing professional development
• Adapt schedules and teaching strategies to maximize instructional time across campuses

This position offers full-time hours (35 per week) with part-time options available (minimum 3 days, 7-hour workdays), and runs the full academic year.
