Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Adapted Physical Education or Physical Education with relevant endorsements
- Proven experience working as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher in a school environment
- Strong understanding of adaptive teaching strategies for students with disabilities
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with educators, therapists, and families
- Creative, patient, and enthusiastic approach to motivating students
- Familiarity with IEP development and documentation is preferred
Role & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement adaptive physical education lesson plans that accommodate the varied needs and abilities of students
- Assess student abilities and write measurable goals in alignment with IEP requirements
- Deliver engaging, safe, and inclusive physical activities that promote fitness and motor skill development
- Modify equipment and activities as necessary for accessibility and participation
- Track and report student progress, adapting instruction as needed
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and parents
- Maintain a supportive and encouraging environment that inspires students’ growth and self-esteem
