Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) in Minneapolis, MN

A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to support multiple schools throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. This position offers the chance to make a valuable difference in the lives of students by tailoring physical education to meet diverse abilities. The assignment spans the full academic year—from August 31, 2026, through June 10, 2027. You’ll work as part of a collaborative team of three, with responsibilities divided among five schools in the region. The schedule is structured for approximately 30 hours per week, and sites will be assigned so you won’t need to travel between schools on the same day.

Qualifications:

• Valid Minnesota DAPE License is required.
• Previous experience in adaptive or special education settings preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple school placements.
• Capability to develop and implement individualized physical education plans.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school teams.
• Flexibility, resourcefulness, and a positive approach to challenges.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver adaptive physical education instruction and activities according to students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Assess students’ abilities and craft or update instructional strategies as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with school staff, therapists, parents, and other DAPE teachers.
• Maintain accurate student records and progress reports.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing student evaluations.
• Foster an encouraging, inclusive environment that celebrates student growth and achievement.
