Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) in Minneapolis, MN

Key Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Developmental/Adaptive Physical Education teaching license
• Demonstrated experience working with children and youth with diverse physical and developmental needs
• Strong knowledge of adaptive lesson planning, assessment strategies, and individualized instruction
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, parents, teachers, and support staff
• High level of flexibility, patience, and enthusiasm for empowering students of all abilities
• Previous experience in a school or educational setting is a plus

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver adaptive physical education instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with IEPs and district guidelines
• Assess students’ strengths and needs to modify activities, equipment, and environments for skill development and engagement
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and other specialists to design and implement integrated PE activities
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and participation
• Provide support to general education physical education teachers regarding adaptive strategies and inclusion
• Communicate regularly with families and teams about student progress and needs
