Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Adaptive Physical Education (APE) or Physical Education with an APE endorsement
- Previous experience working with students requiring adaptive services, preferably within a school setting
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Understanding of current best practices in adaptive movement, motor skills, and wellness for diverse learners
- Creative problem-solving abilities and a compassionate approach to student differences
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver adaptive PE lessons tailored to students’ individual abilities and IEP goals
- Assess and document student progress, making necessary adjustments to support ongoing achievement
- Collaborate with educational teams to integrate adaptive activities within the broader curriculum
- Foster a safe, motivating, and inclusive class atmosphere
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, engagement, and progress
- Provide guidance and resources to classroom staff and families on best practices for supporting physical education for students with disabilities
