Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) - New Orleans, Louisiana

As an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher, you’ll have a dynamic schedule serving a small group of schools in the New Orleans area, helping each student achieve their unique physical development goals. This contract opportunity is available for full-time candidates or those interested in a part-time schedule that includes three full workdays per week.

Key Qualifications:

• Adaptive Physical Education Certification preferred; PE teacher certification required at a minimum
• Proven ability to adapt physical education curriculum for students with varying abilities and needs
• Must have or be willing to complete drug screening and district-required fingerprinting
• Experience working in a school setting or with children/adolescents is highly desirable
• Reliable transportation required; ability to travel between 2-3 school sites as part of an itinerant assignment
• Strong organizational skills and flexibility to manage varying caseloads across different campuses

Role Responsibilities:

• Plan, develop, and deliver adaptive physical education lessons that foster student growth
• Work collaboratively with educational staff to ensure each child’s physical needs are met within their individualized plans
• Track student progress and document outcomes in accordance with district policies
• Communicate regularly with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Serve as a resource on adaptive PE, offering guidance and support across multiple school sites
