Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) in Oakland, CA

What you bring:

• Valid California teaching credential in Adaptive Physical Education (APE)
• Experience in planning and implementing adaptive physical education programs
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with staff, students, and families

• Commitment to supporting a diverse population of learners in an inclusive educational setting
• Availability to work onsite only for 35 hours per week during the school year

Key responsibilities:

• Design and deliver adaptive physical education instruction based on students' individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Assess student abilities and develop strategies to enhance motor skills and physical development
• Travel between assigned sites to provide instruction and support, maintaining strong relationships with each school community
• Consult with special education teachers, therapists, and parents to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed
• Document sessions, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings
