Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher or eligibility for certification
- Experience teaching physical education, with a focus on adaptive PE highly preferred
- Knowledge of IEP processes, modifications, and accommodations for diverse learners
- Ability to develop activities that support motor skills, coordination, and social development
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with teachers, support staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement adaptive physical education programs tailored to students with different needs
- Assess student abilities and progress, adjusting instruction methods as necessary
- Collaborate with special education teams to ensure IEP goals are being met through PE instruction
- Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment
- Document student progress and participate in IEP meetings and planning
- Utilize a variety of equipment and activities to motivate and encourage students’ participation
