Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) | Saint Paul, Minnesota

Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Adaptive Physical Education or Physical Education with adaptive endorsement
• Previous experience teaching adapted physical education preferred
• Comprehensive understanding of best practices and current trends in adaptive PE
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) related to physical education
• Effective communication skills for working with students, families, and school staff
• Creative approach to modifying and adapting activities for various physical and cognitive abilities

Responsibilities:

• Assess student abilities and design tailored adaptive PE curriculum
• Deliver physical education instruction in one-on-one, small group, and classroom settings
• Develop meaningful lesson plans that align with students’ individualized needs and IEP goals
• Work collaboratively with general education teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals
• Track students’ progress, monitor performance, and adjust activities as needed
• Communicate regularly with families and IEP teams about student growth and challenges
• Create an inclusive, supportive, and positive learning atmosphere for all participants
