Grades 9 - 12 Grades K - 5 Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) in Saint Paul, MN

This contract opportunity as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher offers you a chance to make a meaningful impact across grade levels, from kindergarten through high school. You'll work alongside general and special education teams to ensure that all students, regardless of ability, have the opportunity to participate safely and successfully in physical activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Adaptive Physical Education or a related field
• Experience designing and implementing adaptive PE plans for grades K-12
• Strong understanding of physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development in children and adolescents
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to adapt instruction and equipment to meet individual student needs
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging environment for all students

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess students' abilities and create individualized adaptive physical education plans
• Modify activities, games, and sports to accommodate each student's unique needs
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers, special education staff, and families
• Monitor progress, document outcomes, and participate in IEP meetings as needed
• Promote safety, encouragement, and positive participation in all classes
• Incorporate both gross motor skill development and social skills training into activities
• Stay current with best practices and legal requirements in adaptive physical education
