Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) in San Mateo, CA

Key Qualifications:

• Current, valid California teaching credential with authorization in Adaptive Physical Education
• Experience working with students requiring adapted physical education, preferably in a school environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent organizational skills for managing an itinerant caseload and schedules across sites
• Commitment to fostering inclusion, growth, and positive movement experiences for all learners

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized adapted physical education plans for students across assigned locations
• Assess students’ abilities to design and facilitate activities that promote health, wellness, and skill development
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure continuity and effectiveness of programming
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and compliance documentation per district and state standards
• Attend meetings, contribute to IEP processes, and advocate for best practices in inclusive physical education

This on-site position provides the opportunity to work 35 hours per week across a variety of school settings. For the duration of the 184-day contract, compensation ranges from $63 to $67 per hour.
