Exciting new opportunity for an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher to make a real difference in the lives of students! This full-time contract position starts as soon as possible and is set to run through February, with a potential for extension. Work directly with a diverse K-12 student population, providing specialized physical education opportunities designed to help each student succeed and thrive.
In this role, you'll have a manageable caseload of approximately 10-15 students, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality, individualized instruction. You’ll also collaborate with school teams and families to develop and implement adaptive physical education plans that support student growth and achievement.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification and credentials to teach Adaptive Physical Education in California
- Previous experience working with K-12 students in a school setting preferred
- Proficiency in creating comprehensive and legally defensible reports and assessments
- Ability to adapt instructional techniques to meet diverse student needs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Team-oriented mindset and commitment to student advocacy
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver adaptive physical education lessons to students across K-12 grades
- Assess students’ abilities and develop personalized goals and lesson plans
- Complete detailed reports and assessments in compliance with legal and educational standards
- Provide consultative support to general education and special education staff
- Communicate progress with students, families, and multidisciplinary team members
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
