As an ASD specialist, you’ll play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential by delivering individualized instruction and fostering a supportive classroom environment.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with Special Education endorsement required
- Demonstrated experience as an Autism Specialist or Special Education Teacher in a school-based setting
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based strategies for supporting students on the autism spectrum
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Experience working with families and multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, adapting lessons to meet various learning needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with staff and families
- Collect ongoing data on student progress and adjust interventions accordingly
- Utilize positive behavioral supports to enhance student engagement
- Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals to ensure cohesive support
- Maintain accurate records, reporting, and communication with necessary stakeholders
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
