Apply NowStep into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students in a dynamic behavioral program in a school setting near Hartford, CT. In this role, you’ll work school hours from 8:40 A.M. to 3:10 P.M., assisting a self-contained classroom of 10 students in grades 3-5. The mission centers on fostering independence, encouraging students to be fully included in the school community whenever possible.
Your expertise will be essential as you lead behavioral interventions, respond to crises, and collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, counselors, and special education teachers to create a structured, supportive environment. You’ll manage a diverse behavioral caseload, focusing on challenges such as elopement, work refusal, and aggression, while also contributing your skill in developing, writing, and revising FBAs (Functional Behavior Assessments) and BIPs (Behavior Intervention Plans).
Qualifications:
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required
- Experience working within an elementary school or similar educational setting
- Strong background managing behavioral programs, particularly with students exhibiting significant behavioral needs
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, supporting paraprofessionals and educators
- Skilled in crisis intervention and flexible in day-to-day responsibilities
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist and mentor staff in behavioral classrooms for grades 3-5
- Deliver classroom-based support and respond to behavioral incidents throughout the school day
- Lead the development and ongoing revision of FBAs and BIPs tailored to individual student needs
- Facilitate inclusion for students by supporting their participation in general education settings whenever possible
- Actively participate in problem-solving and team meetings related to student behavior
