Step into a pivotal role supporting elementary students as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in a vibrant educational setting near New Haven, CT. This contract opportunity centers around leading a classroom-based behavior program designed for students in grades 3-5 who benefit from specialized behavioral support. The workday runs from 8:40 A.M. to 3:10 P.M., aligning with typical school hours.

This position offers a unique chance to collaborate with a dedicated team while directly impacting the lives of young learners. You’ll support a self-contained classroom of 10 students, yet with the overarching goal to help students transition to less restrictive environments whenever possible. Day-to-day responsibilities focus on both proactive program development and responsive intervention.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certification as a BCBA with experience in school settings, ideally at the elementary level
  • Expertise in behavioral assessment, specifically FBA (Functional Behavior Assessment) and BIP (Behavior Intervention Plan) development and revision
  • Familiarity with managing behaviors such as elopement, work refusal, and aggression
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, working closely with paraprofessionals, counselors, and special education teachers
  • Prior experience assisting with or leading behavioral intervention programs in schools is highly valued

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom-based support, consulting with educational teams to implement effective behavioral strategies
  • Respond to behavioral crises and provide intervention as needed throughout the school day
  • Develop and update FBAs and BIPs in collaboration with staff
  • Guide and mentor paraprofessionals and support personnel on best practices in managing challenging behaviors
  • Foster a supportive, individualized learning environment that encourages student growth and inclusion
