Experience rewarding contract work supporting elementary students as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Located near Terryville, CT, this position offers the opportunity to impact young lives in a classroom-based setting, working alongside dedicated paraprofessionals, counselors, and special education teachers within a specialized behavior program.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current BCBA certification required
- Experience providing behavioral support to elementary-aged students
- Previous work in school settings strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of evidence-based behavioral interventions
- Familiarity with writing and revising Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Ability to effectively manage, support, and train staff in behavioral classrooms
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a self-contained classroom for students in grades 3-5, each with unique behavioral needs such as elopement, work refusal, and aggression
- Collaborate closely with school staff, assisting in the development and implementation of behavioral strategies
- Respond to crisis situations and provide on-the-spot behavioral interventions throughout the school day (8:40 A.M. – 3:10 P.M.)
- Guide paraprofessionals, counselors, and special educators in best practices for managing and reducing difficult behaviors
- Write and revise FBAs and BIPs to support individualized and effective student plans
- Encourage and assist students in progressing toward reintegration into general education settings
