Step into a fulfilling contract opportunity working with elementary students in a supportive school environment. This role involves collaborating with a classroom-based team to address behavioral needs for a caseload of 10 students in grades 3-5 within a specialized behavior program. You’ll be immersed in the daily rhythms of the school community, working school hours from 8:40 A.M. to 3:10 P.M.

Your expertise will be instrumental in creating positive change by responding to crises or interventions as they arise during the day. The classroom operates as a self-contained setting, with a focus on reintegrating students into regular instruction as they grow and progress. You’ll work side-by-side with paraprofessionals, counselors, and special education teachers to implement strategic supports and foster a constructive learning atmosphere.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing behavior analytic support to educators and staff within the classroom
  • Responding promptly to challenges such as elopement, work refusal, and aggression
  • Conducting and updating Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
  • Coaching and mentoring paraprofessionals and classroom staff
  • Encouraging and facilitating students’ transition out of the self-contained setting, when appropriate

Ideal qualifications or experience:

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential
  • School-based or pediatric experience, preferably in an elementary setting
  • Strong collaborative, communication, and crisis intervention skills
  • Experience writing and revising FBAs and BIPs
