Support first graders as a Special Education Teacher for an Extended School Year initiative, focusing on providing individualized attention in a one-on-one environment. The position centers on fostering growth and development for students with behavioral needs. Working closely with school administration, you'll have on-site resources and clear communication channels to help you succeed.
This role emphasizes collaboration and a nurturing approach, tailored especially for children diagnosed with Autism or ADHD. Candidates with a background as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or BCBA certification will find their expertise highly valued. This is a full-time commitment—40 hours per week—with the added opportunity for a contract-to-hire transition for those seeking long-term stability.
Key Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification
- Background or current certification as an RBT or BCBA
- Prior work with elementary-aged children, especially first graders
- Proven experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, and significant behavioral needs
- Familiarity with individualized education planning and behavioral interventions
- Comfortable in a one-on-one teaching setting
- Strong communication skills and team mindset
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support for a first-grade student throughout the extended school year program
- Implement teaching strategies and behavioral plans under guidance from administration and, as applicable, BCBAs
- Collaborate closely with support staff and parents/guardians to ensure continuity of care
- Adapt educational approaches based on student progress and observations
- Maintain documentation on students’ growth, challenges, and successes
