Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher supporting Extended School Year programming. This full-time, contract-to-hire opportunity is based near Woodbridge, VA and focuses on delivering individualized support to a 1st grade student in a one-on-one environment. The role centers on fostering growth in children with behavioral needs, including those with Autism and ADHD, with strong administrative support always available on site.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or BCBA credential
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Demonstrated experience working with children on the Autism spectrum and/or with ADHD is highly valued
- Ability to implement individualized education plans and behavior intervention strategies
- Collaborative approach to partnering with administrators, faculty, and families
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable demeanor
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and behavioral interventions to a 1st grade student in a supportive one-on-one setting
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet specific learning and behavioral goals
- Work closely with administration for resources, guidance, and ongoing professional support
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with policies and guidelines
- Employ research-based strategies relevant to Autism, ADHD, and behavioral needs
- Foster a safe and engaging classroom environment that encourages growth and confidence
This is a full-time position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week during the extended school year term.
