This position offers a unique opportunity to serve as an Onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) within an elementary school setting, focusing on the implementation of positive behavior supports and interventions. The role supports multiple elementary schools in the district, working collaboratively with a team including another BIS and a Special Education Administrator. This contract runs from January 5, 2026, through June 5, 2026, with approximately 18.75 hours per week, typically from 8:30 AM to 4:10 PM on Mondays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Implement and monitor positive behavior interventions and supports to promote student progress and manage challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with school teams to provide appropriate programming and maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
- Provide staff training on behavior management strategies and recommendations.
- Utilize data-driven approaches to inform decision-making and support student success.
- Maintain compliance with district policies and state and federal special education regulations.
- Support crisis situations calmly and effectively, employing de-escalation techniques as necessary.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Desired Qualifications:
- Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Special Education Teacher with Tier 3 or 4 licensure.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in a school setting.
- Strong skills in conducting behavioral assessments and developing intervention strategies.
- Ability to collaborate with educators, administrators, and families.
- Flexibility and calm demeanor in crisis or high-stress situations.
- Commitment to maintaining student safety and positive school climate.

- This role supports four elementary schools located in the Anoka-Hennepin district across Anoka, Blaine, Ramsey, and Andover, Minnesota.
