Step into a dynamic, contract-based opportunity where your expertise in behavior support and special education will make a lasting difference for students. Work closely with both high school and elementary populations, dividing your time between 0.5 FTE high school teaching in the morning and 0.5 FTE as a Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) in the afternoon. Supporting teachers with practical behavior strategies and developing individualized education plans, your role will be vital in fostering positive student outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid MN Tier 3 or Tier 4 Teaching License (required for consideration)
  • Previous experience as a Behavior Specialist or Special Education Teacher in a school setting
  • Strong understanding of behavior intervention planning, positive behavior supports, and IEP development
  • Comfortable consulting and collaborating with general and special education teachers
  • Passion for inclusive education and helping students achieve their fullest potential

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach high school special education (0.5 FTE) in the mornings as part of the Anoka Crew
  • Serve as the elementary Behavior Intervention Specialist (0.5 FTE) in the afternoons, working with the Champlin Crew
  • Support classroom teachers in creating and implementing effective behavior plans – no individual caseload is required for the BIS component
  • Offer consultation and training to staff to enhance positive student behavior and learning environments
  • Observe students, collect data, and report on progress to ensure ongoing behavioral success

Make a significant impact across grade levels within a supportive district environment. The contract runs from approximately August 25, 2026 through June 10, 2027, with consistent weekday hours (7am-3pm) and a collaborative atmosphere.
