Behavior Specialist in School Setting - Andover, Minnesota

Bring your expertise in behavioral support to a fulfilling contract position supporting student success in a vibrant school district near Andover, MN. As a full-time onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS), you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with another BIS and a Special Education Administrator across several school sites, empowering students and staff alike. This role runs from August 25, 2026, through June 10, 2027, with a training week ahead of the school year and a typical daily schedule of 8:30 am–4:10 pm.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• BCBA certification or licensed Special Education Teacher (tier 3 or tier 4 required)
• Experience delivering positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS)
• Strong collaborative skills, working well with multidisciplinary teams
• Proven ability to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
• Familiarity with IEP development and implementation in line with state and federal laws
• Comfortable providing staff training on behavioral recommendations
• RBTs are not eligible for this position

Key Responsibilities:

• Consult, communicate, and work with teams to provide tailored programming for students
• Implement evidence-based interventions and support the reinforcement of positive behaviors
• Use de-escalation and positive redirection techniques when addressing challenging behaviors
• Conduct functional behavior assessments and utilize data-driven decision-making for programming
• Support safe environments for all students and staff
• Train and guide staff in best practices related to behavior management
• Ensure compliance with district and administrative policies, including staff and student handbook procedures
• Respond calmly and flexibly during crisis situations
• Travel between assigned school sites in the district
