Step into a vital role supporting student success as a Behavior Intervention Specialist for the 2025-2026 school year! This contract opportunity will immerse you in impactful work across 3 to 4 school sites, collaborating with an experienced team including another BIS and a Special Education Administrator.
In this position, you’ll consult, design, and implement positive behavioral interventions, working closely with school teams to foster a supportive environment for students. Your expertise in functional behavior assessments and individualized interventions will play a key role in guiding students toward positive outcomes. You’ll have the autonomy to utilize data to inform strategies, plus flexibility to adapt and address student needs—especially during challenging situations.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- BCBA certification or licensed Special Education Teacher (Tier 3 or 4 required for SpEd teachers)
- Background in behavior intervention and implementation within school settings
- Ability to develop, support, and implement IEPs in compliance with regulations
- Strong collaboration skills; comfortable consulting and training staff on behavioral strategies
- Experience with de-escalation techniques and, when necessary, restrictive procedures
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Resourceful, calm, and flexible mindset—especially during crisis situations
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional behavior assessments and implement interventions
- Provide ongoing support and training to staff tailored to student needs
- Reinforce positive behaviors, redirect inappropriate behaviors, and ensure student/environment safety
- Use data-driven approaches to inform programming and support student progress
- Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education
