Step into a fulfilling contract position as a Behavior Specialist and make a direct impact on K-12 students and educational teams in a vibrant urban school district. This full-time, onsite opportunity spans from August 24, 2026, through June 10, 2027, at 35 hours per week. As a key team member, your expertise will support effective learning for students with Autism and guide staff development throughout the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train new staff on general instructional strategies for students with Autism
- Provide schoolwide training on individualized student behavior plans
- Offer refresher courses to returning staff on the latest practices and procedures
- Model evidence-based instructional methods directly with students in classrooms
- Establish and help develop Verbal Repertoires (VRs) for students
- Support staff teams with scheduling, assessment, and other Year 1 logistics
- Lead trainings to familiarize staff with IEPs, BIPs, and required documentation
- Maintain high visibility and accessibility to staff, students, and administrators during the crucial opening weeks of the school year
- Work closely with PaTTAN consultants to align initiatives with the PAI Tiered Implementation Inventory
- Conduct in-class (in-vivo) coaching to reinforce best practices
- Facilitate skill transfer between anchor and support classrooms
- Guide teams in executing individualized programs and provide ongoing implementation feedback
Requirements:
- Pennsylvania educator certification in Special Education or related field (required)
- In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices for students with ASD
- Background in autism support or special education settings
- Comprehensive understanding of educational environments in urban communities
- Availability for onsite work weekdays between 7:15AM–4PM
- Reliable transportation and completion of all PA clearances needed
- Experience within a school environment required
- Zoom interview required
