This unique opportunity blends high school teaching with elementary-level behavior support, allowing you to foster growth, resilience, and success for learners at varying stages. The assignment spans the academic year, running from late August to early June, with an engaging full-time schedule from approximately 7am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.

Key qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Minnesota Tier 3 or Tier 4 Teaching License
  • Experience or background in behavior intervention and special education (Behavior Specialist certification highly valued)
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including consulting and supporting teachers
  • Strong communication skills, adaptability, and an empathetic approach to diverse student needs
  • Willingness to work onsite, splitting time between a high school and elementary setting

Core responsibilities:

  • Serve as a high school special education teacher in the mornings, guiding students through individualized education plans
  • Step into an influential Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) role in the afternoons, supporting elementary school staff without carrying a caseload
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop, implement, and monitor effective behavior plans
  • Model positive behavioral strategies and serve as a resource for staff when complex student challenges arise
  • Maintain student-focused documentation and participate in team meetings to ensure cohesive support
  • Cultivate an inclusive, supportive learning environment that prioritizes the well-being and achievement of every student
