Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Arlington Heights, IL

Seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide vital maternity leave coverage at an elementary school. This contract role offers the chance to make a profound impact by enhancing the educational experience and functional skills of students with unique needs, particularly those in self-contained autism programs. The assignment runs from August 17 (or as soon as possible) through September 28, covering 21–28 hours per week (3 to 4 days weekly) in a supportive and collaborative school environment near Arlington Heights, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver occupational therapy interventions in accordance with each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
• Collaborate closely with special education staff and classroom teams to promote student access, participation, and skill development.
• Support functional independence and participation of students within autism programs and other specialized settings.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of student progress and therapy sessions.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and communicate effectively with school staff and families.

Desired Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Certified (or eligibility for certification) by the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Board of Registry.
• Licensed as a COTA in the State of Illinois.
• Previous pediatric or school-based experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility in meeting student needs.
