Apply NowSeeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide vital maternity leave coverage at an elementary school. This contract role offers the chance to make a profound impact by enhancing the educational experience and functional skills of students with unique needs, particularly those in self-contained autism programs. The assignment runs from August 17 (or as soon as possible) through September 28, covering 21–28 hours per week (3 to 4 days weekly) in a supportive and collaborative school environment near Arlington Heights, IL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy interventions in accordance with each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Collaborate closely with special education staff and classroom teams to promote student access, participation, and skill development.
- Support functional independence and participation of students within autism programs and other specialized settings.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of student progress and therapy sessions.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and communicate effectively with school staff and families.
Desired Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Certified (or eligibility for certification) by the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Board of Registry.
- Licensed as a COTA in the State of Illinois.
- Previous pediatric or school-based experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility in meeting student needs.
