As a COTA in the school setting, you’ll benefit from a flexible caseload, gaining experience with a variety of student needs and age groups. You’ll work closely with occupational therapists, educators, and families to facilitate student growth, access, and independence within their educational environment.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure in New Mexico (or eligibility to obtain)
• Graduation from an accredited COTA program
• Previous school-based experience is preferred, though strong new graduates are also encouraged to apply
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills
• Ability to adapt and respond flexibly to diverse caseloads and evolving student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions as outlined in student IEPs under the supervision of an OT
• Assist students in developing or regaining daily living, sensory, and fine motor skills
• Document student progress and collaborate on IEP teams
• Consult with teachers and families to support carryover of skills in classroom and home settings
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and district in-services as needed
