In this assignment, you will work with a single 15-year-old student for one hour each day over the course of a week. Your expertise and encouragement can make a significant difference during this focused period. The position is located near Durham, NH, making it a convenient summer commitment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Experience providing occupational therapy services within a K-12 or adolescent-focused school environment
- Ability to establish rapport with teenage students and adapt strategies to meet individualized needs
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with educators, families, and other support staff
- Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as required
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver hourly occupational therapy sessions to a 15-year-old student in accordance with the student's individualized education plan (IEP)
- Implement therapeutic interventions and adjust them as necessary to support the student’s progress toward set goals
- Monitor, assess, and document the student’s response to therapy for ongoing evaluation
- Consult with school staff and parents regarding strategies to maximize the student’s independence and success
