Qualifications and Experience:
- A current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license (or eligibility) in Massachusetts
- Previous experience working in a school or pediatric environment preferred
- Strong understanding of individualized education program (IEP) implementation
- Ability to work effectively with students of varying ages and abilities
- Excellent communication skills for teaming with educators, therapists, and families
- Organizational strengths to manage documentation and deadlines
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Occupational Therapist in delivering direct therapy services as outlined in students’ IEPs
- Support students in developing fine and gross motor skills relevant to academic and daily living tasks
- Implement treatment plans designed by the Occupational Therapist, providing progress updates
- Participate in team meetings, offering valuable input for student progress and goals
- Document sessions and student outcomes according to school protocols
- Assist with creating and modifying classroom materials to improve student accessibility and engagement
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom climate that empowers all students
