Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Active COTA license in California (or eligibility to obtain prior to the assignment)
- Previous experience in a school setting is highly valued
- Strong understanding of pediatric occupational therapy interventions and IEP implementation
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with educators, students, and families
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic educational environment and tailor interventions to individual needs
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and compassionate care
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with students individually and in small groups under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
- Assist in the implementation of IEPs, focusing on activities of daily living, sensory processing, fine motor skills, and adaptive equipment use
- Collect and document student progress data, sharing insights with the therapy and teaching teams
- Participate in collaborative meetings and contribute to ongoing student assessments
- Foster a supportive learning atmosphere that encourages student engagement and independence
- Assist with the development of classroom modifications and teacher training to optimize student success
