Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Active COTA license in California (or eligibility to obtain prior to the assignment)
  • Previous experience in a school setting is highly valued
  • Strong understanding of pediatric occupational therapy interventions and IEP implementation
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with educators, students, and families
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic educational environment and tailor interventions to individual needs
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and compassionate care

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with students individually and in small groups under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
  • Assist in the implementation of IEPs, focusing on activities of daily living, sensory processing, fine motor skills, and adaptive equipment use
  • Collect and document student progress data, sharing insights with the therapy and teaching teams
  • Participate in collaborative meetings and contribute to ongoing student assessments
  • Foster a supportive learning atmosphere that encourages student engagement and independence
  • Assist with the development of classroom modifications and teacher training to optimize student success
