Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Previous experience in a school-based setting highly preferred
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, therapists, and families
- Adaptability and creativity in tailoring therapy interventions to individual student needs
- Commitment to fostering student independence and participation in school activities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the occupational therapist in delivering therapy services to students, focusing on their educational and developmental goals
- Implement individualized treatment plans during therapy sessions
- Support classroom staff with strategies to reinforce students’ skills throughout the school day
- Collect data and document student progress, maintaining accurate and timely records
- Participate in meetings as needed to discuss student growth and contribute to multidisciplinary teams
- Encourage a positive, supportive environment that nurtures students’ growth and confidence
