Step into an impactful role supporting K-12 students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a collaborative special education setting. Schedule runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, totaling 35 hours per week. Anticipate a low caseload and the opportunity to work across various grade levels, helping students develop essential life and classroom skills. Orientation for new hires takes place August 12th–14th, preparing you to launch the school year confidently.
Key Qualifications:
- Active and current Illinois COTA license (license must be submitted with your application)
- Experience supporting children in school or pediatric settings highly valued
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- Enthusiasm for working within special education environments
- Professional, adaptable, and reliable, with a passion for helping students thrive
- Ability to work onsite daily, serving a range of grade levels (caseload and specifics determined upon placement)
Primary Duties:
- Provide occupational therapy support and interventions to students under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
- Assist students in developing fine motor, sensory integration, and adaptive skills crucial for learning
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate session notes and progress documentation in compliance with school and state guidelines
- Foster a positive, nurturing environment where every student can grow and succeed
