A contract opportunity is available for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to serve elementary or secondary students throughout the 2026–2027 academic year. School locations are soon to be finalized and will likely be in the Simpsonville and Greer areas.
This assignment runs from August 4, 2026, through May 27, 2027, including time for pre- and post-planning. The schedule is part-time, with two workdays per week (7.5 hours each, totaling 15 hours per week). COTAs in these settings typically manage a caseload of 8–10 students daily, providing approximately 5 hours of direct service (about 30-minute sessions per student per day). Full support and supervision from an Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) is provided.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license for the state of South Carolina
- Prior experience in schools or pediatrics strongly preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a steady caseload and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborative attitude, eager to partner with supervising therapists and school teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct occupational therapy services as prescribed in student IEPs
- Collaborate closely with OTR supervisor and educational staff
- Document session notes and progress reports in a timely manner
- Support the functional and academic goals of students
- Communicate effectively with families, teachers, and special education teams
