Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) providing maternity leave coverage in an elementary school setting. This role is ideal for professionals with a passion for supporting students in developing functional life skills and enhancing their participation in autism programs. You’ll be onsite, working collaboratively with special education staff and classroom teams to deliver impactful occupational therapy interventions aligned with students’ IEP goals.

Key Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Certification or eligibility for certification from the Board of Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Valid State of Illinois Occupational Therapist License required
  • Previous experience in pediatric or school-based settings strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct occupational therapy services to students as outlined in their IEPs
  • Support student access and participation within self-contained autism programs
  • Collaborate with educators, special education staff, and families to ensure student progress
  • Document interventions and maintain accurate records in accordance with school guidelines
  • Provide consultation to staff regarding adaptive techniques, equipment, and individualized strategies

Additional Details:

  • Contract spanning from August 17 (or as soon as possible) through September 28
  • Work schedule of 21–28 hours per week, spread across three to four days each week
  • Onsite at a single elementary school location
