School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Jamaica, New York

Step into a rewarding contract role supporting young learners as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in an Early Intervention educational setting. This unique opportunity is ideal for professionals eager to make a lasting impact while growing with a supportive team. As this program launches its very first year, you’ll start with part-time hours for a manageable caseload, with the potential to expand to full-time (up to 40 hours/week) as more students enroll.

You'll work with children in a nurturing, inclusive classroom setting—each class has 10 students, supported by individualized teacher assistants and a special education teacher. Engage in both individualized and group therapy sessions and contribute to a collaborative, child-centered environment.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Active COTA licensure in New York State
• Prior experience in school-based or pediatric settings strongly preferred
• Understanding of Early Intervention services and protocols
• Excellent communication, organization, and documentation abilities
• Flexible and willing to transition from part-time to full-time as program grows
• Passion for working with young children and multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

• Deliver occupational therapy services to children aged birth to three in both 1:1 and group formats
• Collaborate with teachers, assistants, and other therapists to support student progress
• Accurately document therapy sessions, maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines
• Contribute to treatment planning adaptations as needed for individual children
• Participate in relevant meetings and maintain open lines of communication with caregivers
