School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | Oakland, California

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

• Current and valid COTA licensure for California, or eligibility to obtain
• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric setting preferred
• Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and related documentation
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with occupational therapists, teachers, families, and other school staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct therapy services to students under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist in accordance with IEP goals
• Assist in the development, implementation, and documentation of treatment plans
• Support students in developing fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and adaptive behaviors for increased success in the academic setting
• Monitor and report on student progress to the OT and educational team
• Participate in team meetings, parent communications, and IEP conferences as needed
• Maintain accurate and timely records of sessions and progress notes
• Adapt interventions and teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs
