Apply NowStep into a rewarding contract role as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supporting students in an elementary school setting. This position covers a maternity leave starting August 17 (or as soon as possible) through September 28, with a flexible commitment of 21–28 hours per week across 3–4 days onsite. You'll have the meaningful opportunity to help students in self-contained autism programs achieve greater independence and success through direct treatment and close collaboration with school personnel.
Desired Background & Skills:
- Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant training program
- Certified or eligible for certification by the Board of Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association (COTA) and licensed as a COTA in Illinois
- Previous experience in pediatric or school-based OT strongly preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to student and team needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to eligible students aligned with IEP goals
- Collaborate with special educators and classroom teams to foster student access, participation, and functional skill development
- Focus efforts within self-contained autism programs, tailoring interventions for a range of student needs
- Document progress and contribute recommendations for effective individualized support
- Create an inclusive, supportive learning environment within the school community
