Make a positive impact by providing essential services to K-12 students as part of an itinerant support team. In this role, you'll cover a maternity leave and service approximately 50 students throughout the school year, gaining valuable experience working collaboratively within an educational setting.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Hold an active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the state of California
- Possess prior experience in a school or pediatric setting (preferred)
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to serve multiple school sites within a district
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organization skills
- Ability to engage effectively with students from kindergarten through high school
- Capable of working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect occupational therapy services to students with varying needs across K-12 settings
- Collaborate with supervising occupational therapists, educators, and school staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Conduct assessments, assist with goal-setting, and monitor student progress
- Travel between school sites within the district to effectively manage and support your caseload
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all state and district guidelines
- Serve as a resource for students, families, and staff regarding occupational therapy interventions
