Step into a rewarding school-based opportunity as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) on a full-time, district-wide contract in the scenic Waterbury, CT area. This engaging role begins on August 27, 2026, aligning with the first day of school, and spans approximately 12 weeks to provide coverage for an FMLA leave, with the possibility for extension.
In this position, you’ll make a significant impact across all grade levels, supporting students from Pre-K through 12th grade. Travel between school sites within the district allows you to share your expertise with diverse student populations and collaborate closely with supervising Occupational Therapists and educational teams. The final daily work schedule will be confirmed by the district, averaging about 7–7.5 hours per day.
Qualifications
- Active COTA license/certification: CT DPH license and successful completion of the NBCOT exam
- Experience in a school-based setting preferred
- Reliable transportation is essential for travel between schools
- Experience working with students in Pre-K through 12th grade is a plus
- Ability to work effectively with diverse disability populations
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services under OT supervision
- Carry out established treatment plans and interventions
- Assist in evaluating student progress and maintaining detailed documentation
- Support and collaborate with classroom teachers and special education teams
- Contribute to goal planning and participate in IEP meetings as needed
