Step into a rewarding role as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, supporting an elementary school community during a vital maternity leave coverage. In this onsite position, you’ll be working 3–4 days each week, from August 17 (or as soon as possible) through September 28, directly impacting students’ growth and participation in specialized autism programs.

Use your skills to deliver high-quality occupational therapy to students in alignment with their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. You’ll collaborate closely with special education teams, classroom staff, and related services to foster students’ development of essential functional skills for academic and daily living success. Your expertise will help ensure all students can access and participate effectively in their educational environment.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant training program.
  • Current Illinois licensure or eligibility for state certification as a COTA.
  • National certification through the American Occupational Therapy Association or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations or in school-based settings highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute within multidisciplinary teams and adapt to the evolving needs of students and staff.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide occupational therapy services in accordance with students’ IEPs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and families to implement strategies and accommodations.
  • Document progress and maintain accurate, timely records of student performance.
  • Participate in team meetings and support the ongoing needs of self-contained autism programs.
