School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | Whites City, New Mexico

Key Qualifications:

• Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
• Successful completion of an accredited COTA program
• Previous experience in a school environment is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with all age groups
• Knowledge of therapy best practices and relevant state regulations
• Ability to adapt interventions to different student needs and developmental levels
• Willingness to collaborate with occupational therapists, educators, and family members

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct occupational therapy services as outlined in students’ individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Assist with the implementation and documentation of therapy plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
• Observe, record, and report student progress and responses to interventions
• Contribute to IEP development and attend relevant meetings as required
• Support classroom staff in integrating therapeutic strategies into daily routines
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with school procedures
• Promote student independence in self-care, fine motor, and classroom participation
