Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in Virginia
  • Recent experience in a school setting preferred
  • Strong understanding of IEP processes and pediatric therapy interventions
  • Effective communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Dedication to fostering student independence, participation, and achievement
  • Ability to adapt to changing caseloads and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

  • Implement therapy plans under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist
  • Provide direct, goal-oriented therapy services to students in groups or individually
  • Document session progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with school requirements
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to promote student access and participation
  • Contribute to the development and revision of IEPs, offering insights into student performance
  • Support students in developing fine motor, sensory processing, and adaptive skills
  • Participate in school meetings, in-services, or training sessions as required
