School Counselor - Bear, DE

Make a difference in students’ lives as a valued school counselor supporting a high school student population during a 12-week paternity leave. This full-time contract position is ideal for experienced guidance counselors who are passionate about fostering academic, career, and personal growth in teens.

In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and families to guide students through high school challenges and transitions. Your expertise will be essential in providing the short-term support and continuity needed as students look to you for advice, advocacy, and understanding.

What you’ll bring:

• Valid Delaware School Counselor Certification with experience working in a high school or secondary school setting
• Background as a school counselor, guidance counselor, or youth counselor focused on adolescent development
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to build trust with both students and colleagues
• Ability to quickly adapt to a new environment and work independently through transitions
• A commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and integrity in all student interactions

Key responsibilities:

• Provide academic, career, and personal/social counseling to high school students
• Help students navigate graduation requirements, scheduling, and post-secondary planning
• Support students with personal challenges, conflict resolution, and goal-setting
• Consult with teachers and staff on strategies for student success
• Maintain meticulous documentation and comply with school counseling standards
