School Counselor in Berkeley, CA

Deliver transformative mental health support to students across multiple schools as a bilingual Spanish-speaking counselor. This contract opportunity in the Bay Area is designed for passionate professionals eager to make a positive impact in Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) within a dynamic, urban district setting. You’ll play a critical role supporting students from early childhood through transition programs, traveling to various sites and collaborating with school staff, students, and families.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is mandatory—candidates not fluent will not be considered.
• Active Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) number is required; you must be fully licensed (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) or an Associate (AMFT, APCC, ASW) actively accruing supervised hours toward full licensure.
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in counseling, marriage & family therapy, clinical social work, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3,000 supervised clinical hours (or in process for associates) and successful completion of relevant state licensing exams.
• Live Scan background clearance readiness.
• Ability to provide two completed supervisor references upon request.

Role Responsibilities

• Deliver ERMHS counseling services, both group and 1:1, to students districtwide.
• Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and progress reports aligned with district and state guidelines.
• Collaborate with teachers, school psychologists, and families to develop and monitor student support plans.
• Travel between up to three schools based on district-wide itinerant needs.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary assessment and intervention planning.
• Uphold confidentiality while ensuring compliance with all ethical and legal standards.

This is an on-site, school-based role—remote work and virtual counseling are not options. Two positions available, with full-year commitments from August 2026 through June 2027, 35 hours per week.
