Step into a supportive educational environment as you provide vital counseling services to middle school students in a therapeutic setting. This contract opportunity begins immediately to cover a maternity leave, with the assignment potentially extending through the end of the school year. You’ll play an essential role within a grades 6-8 therapeutic program designed to support the unique needs of a small caseload—14 students comprising both general and special education learners.

As an integral member of the school’s care team, your specialized expertise as an Adjustment Counselor or School Psychologist will offer targeted interventions and guidance. Your schedule will be full-time, with 32.5 hours each week dedicated to making a real difference in students’ lives.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Hold a current DESE School Adjustment Counselor or School Psychologist certification
  • Prior experience working with middle school-aged students in a therapeutic or school counseling role
  • Skilled in both individual and group counseling methods, with a sensitivity towards diverse student backgrounds including special education
  • Strong collaboration abilities and comfort partnering with teachers, student support staff, and families
  • Ability to assess student needs and contribute to the development and monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group counseling within a highly supportive therapeutic environment
  • Provide crisis intervention and develop coping strategies tailored to each student
  • Collaborate in the design and implementation of behavioral and emotional interventions
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings as needed
  • Foster trusting relationships with students and facilitate communication with family members where appropriate
