School Counselor in Boston, MA

A therapeutic program in Boston, MA is seeking a full-time Adjustment Counselor or School Psychologist to support students in grades 6-8. This contract position is focused on providing counseling services in a therapeutic setting with a caseload of 14 students, including both general education and special education learners. The assignment begins as soon as possible and is expected to last through the end of the school year, covering a maternity leave absence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individual and group counseling services tailored to a mix of general and special education students
• Support emotional, social, and behavioral development within a therapeutic education program
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to create and monitor student intervention plans
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports consistent with program requirements
• Foster a supportive and safe learning environment for middle school students (grades 6-8)

Qualifications:

• Valid DESE certification as an Adjustment Counselor or School Psychologist
• Previous experience working with middle school students in therapeutic or special education settings preferred
• Strong understanding of social-emotional learning and behavioral interventions
• Ability to effectively handle confidential information and maintain professional boundaries
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Schedule & Location:

• Full-time: 32.5 hours/week
