Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a counselor supporting students in a therapeutic middle school program. This full-time position begins immediately and is anticipated to cover a maternity leave, with the possibility of extending through the end of the school year. You’ll work with a close-knit group of 14 students, spanning both general and special education in grades 6 through 8, providing critical social-emotional and behavioral support in a dynamic environment.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active DESE certification is required
  • Experience as an Adjustment Counselor or with school-based counseling (psychology background welcome)
  • Prior work in middle school settings is highly valued
  • Familiarity with therapeutic programming and supporting diverse learners
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students in the program
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and special educators to support social, emotional, and academic development
  • Contribute to student support plans and crisis intervention as needed
  • Maintain thorough documentation and participate in team meetings
  • Foster a safe, inclusive environment that encourages growth and resilience
