Step into a vital role supporting students and families by serving as a contract School Counselor for the 2026–2027 academic year. This position will be near Cambridge, MD, providing guidance and developmental support for an elementary caseload of approximately 350 students. Your expertise will foster academic growth, career awareness, and personal development as you guide students through educational transitions and future planning.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid School Counselor certification or eligibility, with experience in elementary education preferred
- Strong background in delivering individual and group counseling and career guidance programs
- Ability to facilitate educational planning and transition activities, supporting student movement between grade levels
- Experience conducting post-secondary and career decision-making activities for young learners and their families
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, staff, and parents
- Comfortable leading both daytime school functions and evening sessions for parent engagement
What You’ll Do:
- Design and lead individual and group career guidance activities, such as career competency, exploration, and decision-making workshops
- Assist with educational planning, including school orientation programs and long-term academic studies (such as Five-Year Plans)
- Organize post-secondary planning events—including college and technical school presentations, SAT/PSAT prep, and early financial aid education
- Conduct monthly evening counseling sessions for parents, offering individual appointments and group information sessions
- Maintain a supportive and proactive presence within the school, collaborating with faculty and administration to address student needs
This is a full-time, contract role working Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours per day, starting August 10, 2026, and concluding June 16, 2027.
